* Clockwise from top left: Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist; Elizabeth and James Nirvana White; Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter; Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner; NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm
Oh hi there! Kicking off the first post of this year with a monthly favourites (although this is kind of a dual January/February collection of sorts.) Firstly, and most used, is the NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. This is pretty much an all-year-round favourite and hands down the best balm out there (in my opinion.) If the old myth that honey has healing properties is true, this lip balm pretty much proves it.
Up next is the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. This has been on my wishlist for quite some time, so it was no surprise that when I recently got my hands on it in a value set it became an instant favourite. It dries fast, smells of actual roses and if you prefer a mist or spray over an oil, as I do, this is a definite try.
You had me at peony. While I don’t tend to wear perfume much, and after having run out of my staple scent – Flora by Gucci Eau Fraîche – I wasn’t really looking to pickup a new fragrance any time soon. But the past month brought this beauty into my life: Elizabeth and James Nirvana White. Notes of peony AND lily of the valley? Count me in.
Okay, so scent might also have a major part to play in this pick. Next up, the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter. Two words: Vanilla Apricot. Besides that, this stuff is non-greasy, hydrates like a boss and is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
Rediscovering the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner has been a game-changer this last month or two. It’s both the easiest to apply, and the most reliable liquid liner out there.
What are some of your favourites at the moment?
For all you wanderlusters out there – this is the stuff travel beauty kit dreams are made of. While I don’t get to travel as much as I used to (and as much as I’d like to,) I came across this brilliant new set, Sephora’s Beauty on the Fly, and it’s pretty much got me ready to pack my bags. The 12-piece(!) collection of mini beauty essentials for hair, face and body includes some classic favourites (Origins GinZing eye cream, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum) and some exciting new bits thrown in too (Vita Liberata Neroli & Argan Milk Broad Spectrum SPF 50.) *Full list of products below.

What you you think of this collection of products?
Let’s face it, you’ve only got the skin you’re in and as it is your largest organ (and your most visible one) it’s even more important to find what works best for your skin’s health. Forget about the concealers and highlighters, the powders and blushers – no matter what your skin type, it’s all about a healthy, nourished and naked face.
It’s taken many years and a lot of toners, wipes, strips and washes but these few have been the tried, tested and true for this gal’s combination skin. It’s a staple product for many, but the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser is the gentlest and least-drying cleanser there is out there. It is, and always will be, a sink-side mainstay. Another cult favourite among many a beauty blogger is the, dare I say, legendary Bioderma Solution Micellaire which works magically as not only a makeup remover, but also a toner and it helps banish stubborn spots/pimples too. Ah, yes, probably the most frequently mentioned product on this blog is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, it is a best-seller for the brand and I will not ever be without it. Especially in the freezing winters, it moisturizes and soothes for the entire day without being greasy or causing breakouts. Recently got a sample of the new Clinique Repairwear Sculpting Night Cream and am currently trying it out, but so far so good (will do a full review if it once I’ve made up my mind.)
Also, once a week, try treating yourself to a good face mask. Not only is it good for your skin but it’s a good reason to take a few minutes to sit back, relax and reflect. There are amazing finds in the drug store, like my current fave, which is still the Amie Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask that I wrote a post about a few months back. The Boscia Green Tea Mask is also super if you are feeling a wee bit fancier.
So that’s it, clean and simple! Have you found your mainstay daily skin care essentials?
We may be heading into Fall but this gentle, calming face mask is some serious Spring cleaning for your skin. Amie products recently became available in stores in Canada and I’m certainly glad they did! The brand is from the UK and is a range for sensitive skin by beauty expert Fiona Parkhouse. The products are made without any parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrochemicals or animal extracts and can be used by both vegetarians and vegans. The line includes everything from cleansers and moisturizers to exfoliators and masks, as well as makeup.
If their Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask is anything to go by, my bathroom counter, and my skin, will be seeing a lot more of this range. Made with organic peppermint, white clay and lime butter, a thin layer is applied over the face, left for ten minutes, then washed off with warm water. The formula is thick but applies really easily, and I LOVE the smell, it was instant calm once that scent hit my nostrils. The mask leaves skin feeling super soft and deep down clean without any signs of irritation or breakouts so far. New holy grail product? All I know is that my face = happy.
