Whether it’s a quick jaunt home for the weekend to visit family or a week-long getaway, packing a travel makeup kit can vary from either a simple sunscreen and lip balm combo to an entire cosmetics counter in a bag. Whatever the occasion, the Urban Decay ‘Naked On The Run’ palette is a pretty efficient and space-saving way to go in terms of your travelling beauty arsenal. I’ll admit when I first held this palette in my hands it was bigger than what I imagined, but tested it out in my average sized toiletries bag and it fit just fine. The packaging is quite sturdy, so it wouldn’t be an issue to just toss it in your suitcase/travel bag as is without any worries.
If you’re already a fan of the Naked series palettes this is a spot-on take on having all of those separate collections rolled into one neat complete set. The palette includes 6 neutral and versatile eye shadow shades including an illuminating all-over colour ‘5050’ along with both matte and metallic shades ‘Dive’ (metallic rose/gold), ‘Fix’ (a matte taupe), ‘Resist’ (metallic taupe), ‘Dare’ (medium brown matte) and ‘Stun’ (metallic bronze/light gold shimmer.)
Left to right are the shades: Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Stun
On top of that, you also have a blusher and bronzer option included, which I think (along with the mascara) are the most handy to have as they can be quickly and easily applied to add just that little something without getting all made up.
The 24/7 Eye Pencil is nice, it glides on pretty smooth and didn’t have any smudging issues which is a plus. Not a massive fan of the lip gloss (mainly due to the shade and shimmer factor and the fact that lip gloss isn’t a go-to for me) but you do get a full-size product and the formula is a winner. The Perversion Mascara is in the shade ‘Blackest Black’ and includes Hairdensyl, which is supposed to support lash growth.
When in doubt, it’s always best to go minimal I say, and with this palette you’re pretty much covered whether you’re going for a complete look or just need a product or two.
As the colder temps make way for warmer days, the dry scaly lips of winter are also (hopefully!) going to be a thing of the seasons past. With the lack of winter winds whipping your hair or your scarf into your face why not take a chance at bringing lip gloss back into the mix (and onto your lips of course!) The ‘Be Legendary Lip Gloss’ by Smashbox is a glassy, lightweight and non-sticky formula that comes in a range of colours from subtle peachy nudes to bright pinks to vivid reds and plums, including these three picks: Legendary (a bright, true red); Azalea (bright pink fuchsia); and Pout (a pearlescent pink.)
While I’m definitely more of a balm or lipstick formula kind of gal, these glosses are really easy to apply and are blendable without being the dreaded sticky hair-magnet that usually keeps me well away from any gloss formulas. What formula do you prefer: a gloss, balm or lipstick?
So we’ve officially sprung into the first day of Spring, and although the mornings are still frosty and stubborn patches of snow still sparkle the ground, there’s no doubt that it’s the season to think pink. With that in mind, it’s time to officially bring the blush back with these rosy hued picks for eyes and cheeks.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of pretty much all of Clinique’s ‘chubby stick’ offerings (the eye shadow tint in ‘Ample Amber’ is my daily go-to) and the brand’s Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in ‘Roly Poly Rosy’, which is Spring-esque tawny/coral hue, is pretty much a pick-me-up in a stick. Swipe onto the cheeks and blend, it’s pretty fail-safe with no mirror required. *Swatches below.
Now, while you might not instantly think pink when it comes to eye shadow, the newest Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in ‘Biggest Blossom’ is a ‘pearlescent golden rose’ shade and actually goes on quite neutral, only lightly giving eyelids a flushed sheen perfect for sunny and cool Spring days.

What are your thoughts on pink for Spring?
You know them. They can’t walk by a Sephora or department store beauty counter without itching to have a look at the latest palette or luminizing powder. You’ll find them scouring the aisles, their hands and forearms full of colourful swatches like an artist’s palette. Always full of recommendations and excitedly chattering about new products to test. At least three lippy’s always fall out of their bag every time they need to get something from inside. It’s the final countdown do do do do…..Well, the countdown to holiday beauty calendars that is. Cheeks rejoice! Hold on to your blush brushes, this may just be the best blush palette yet. The Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette is an exclusive new set with five (yes, FIVE!) brand new colours, it comes with two vintage-inspired hairpins and is packaged in a golden, hard-cased ‘Parisian-style’ clutch. Did you get all that? Not short on the extras, the real star of this palette is the blushes themselves. The five new shades *swatches below* are the same winning formula of the brands already established Amazonian 12-hour clay-infused collection of blushes. Included in the palette are Breathless (pinky beige,) Embraced (plummy rose,) Whimsy (light pink,) Bashful (rosy peach) and Irreplaceable (mauve rose.)
Each shade has it’s own identity, which in my opinion is the best part of this palette, you can create so many different looks from day to night, glowing to glam. It’s super versatile, not to mention it being really handy having all of the shades in one place. The one shade that stood out for me is ‘Embraced,’ it’s the perfect hint of plum for the cold Winter days ahead. Needless to say, if you’re a fan of the formula (as I know I am,) this is a great way to up the blush factor as the holiday season rolls around.
Having never really been one to use foundation, unless on super special occasions, finding ways to give the same effect with only applying minimal amounts of product to my skin has always been important. It’s also really great if you’ve only got five minutes in the morning on a regular day and need to apply-and-go. In this edit, I’ve included my three picks for a really natural and minimal makeup look. They are the three best friends that anyone could have…
If a late night Netflix binge is a bit of a regular occurrence for you, not that I’m saying it is for me *shifty eyes,* then having the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in your makeup bag is a pretty good thing. This is the one concealer that pulled me away from an all-time favourite, Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Concealer, and I haven’t looked back since. The sponge applicator allows you to access the right amount of product and the formula is super blendable – major points for ease of use on this one. Just a quality, quality concealer.
Mainly used around the eyes to prime before concealer and shadow, the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer 002 is not only hydrating and glides on in a pinch but it also keeps my concealer, well concealing, for the whole day and prevents even the creamiest of shadows from creasing. As drugstore primers go, this is the ONE.
All other pressed powders be gone! A favourite of many a beauty blogger and what some would even call a holy grail product, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder has been a staple in my makeup bag for a good while and is hands down the longest lasting mattifying powder to have ever crossed my path.
