So we’ve officially sprung into the first day of Spring, and although the mornings are still frosty and stubborn patches of snow still sparkle the ground, there’s no doubt that it’s the season to think pink. With that in mind, it’s time to officially bring the blush back with these rosy hued picks for eyes and cheeks.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of pretty much all of Clinique’s ‘chubby stick’ offerings (the eye shadow tint in ‘Ample Amber’ is my daily go-to) and the brand’s Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in ‘Roly Poly Rosy’, which is Spring-esque tawny/coral hue, is pretty much a pick-me-up in a stick. Swipe onto the cheeks and blend, it’s pretty fail-safe with no mirror required. *Swatches below.
Now, while you might not instantly think pink when it comes to eye shadow, the newest Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in ‘Biggest Blossom’ is a ‘pearlescent golden rose’ shade and actually goes on quite neutral, only lightly giving eyelids a flushed sheen perfect for sunny and cool Spring days.

What are your thoughts on pink for Spring?
For those who appreciate a good one-step product, this is the eye product for you! The Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes is a great apply-and-go eye shadow, you just apply on the lid, give a little smudge and go! These neutral shades are perfect for doing just that and can multitask for both day and night wear. The chocolate-bronze ‘Fuller Fudge’ which is in the nudes colour group, and the golden-bronze ‘Ample Amber’ which is in the goldens to greens colour group, both glide onto the eyelid and are super pliable for a subtle sheer or glowy glam look. The sticks are small and sturdy, perfect for throwing in your day bag or travel makeup bag – handy for one-step, instant eye magic wherever you go.
The ultimate compact palette has been given an update as Urban Decay releases the second edition of its coveted eyeshadow collection. The Urban Decay Naked2 Basics follows in the footsteps of its older sister with an ombré array of nudes and neutrals, from the corner-of-the-eyes brightener ‘Skimp’ to the deliciously chocolate brown ‘Undone.’ It’s a great update with enough variation to make it different from the first edition but also offering the same versatility and quality formula.
The size and packaging (if it ain’t broke…) with handy built-in mirror makes this the same easy to transport/travel-friendly palette that lovers of the first Naked Basics can appreciate. All the new shades have their merits but a particular spotlight shines on ‘Stark,’ not only for its awesome Game of Thrones-related name, but it makes a brilliant all-over colour for lids and I think I can safely say will be first to hit pan.
Whether you’re going for a no-make-up look or a full glam eye look, Urban Decay has done it again.
The brown-bronze smokey shadow liner. It’s a good one to have stowed away in the proverbial magic makeup carpet bag, but having tried to get my hands on Rimmel’s Scandeleyes Shadow Stick in ‘Bad Girl Bronze’ for a good few months (sold out in Shoppers Drug Marts across the land it seems) I officially gave up the search. You know how once you stop looking for something it suddenly turns up? Well, leave it to an unplanned visit to the mothership of makeup – Sephora – and this little, er, jumbo I should say, crayon found it’s way into my hands. The Sephora Collection Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof in ‘Dark Brown Matte’ is great for many reasons, the formula is super pigmented and the crayon width doesn’t hinder the application process, it blends like a dream – perfect for a smudgy-smokey look (swatches included below) and finally, it’s matte! *cue angelic background music*
