Mauve-ing into Fall (Fall Beauty Favourites)

There seemed to be a bit of a colour theme developing when putting together my favourite beauty picks for Fall, so I went with it – hence the styling and snazzy post title.

The Clinique Stay-Matte Universal Blotting Powder has become one of the three beauty mainstays in my purse (along with lip balm and a mini hairbrush) and is an instant face refresher in one go. The packaging is slim, simple and lightweight, which is a bonus – it also includes an application pad for blotting.

The Instant Protection Spray is a product I used throughout the end of Summer and will be carrying over into the next season.  Heat protection is always a good idea, and this spray does double duty as it can be applied on either wet or dry hair. Something to note is that it’s got quite a strong scent, as with the brand’s Humidity Shield spray.

The Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm has been a bit of a hidden gem for this lover of liquid liner (which is not the easiest to get off at the end of the day.) The idea of using a balm to remove makeup seemed a bit strange at first, but the waxy balm melts really easily onto the skin and washes off without leaving any residue – or makeup of course.

As I don’t wear a full face of makeup, the idea of an ‘almost lipstick’ sounds pretty right. That leads us to the final pick, and possibly my favourite lip product (after the NUXE Rêve de Miel® Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm) – the barely-there, hint-of-a-tint Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It’s not quite a lipstick, but a bit more than a balm and the berry hue is meant to work with the natural tone of your lips.

Spring 2016 Hair Edit

Spring 2016 Hair EditAfter a season of wearing cozy hats to fend off the bitter cold, it’s time to free your follicles. These three picks have been my mainstay hair savers this season so far.  As you can see it’s been all about repair with this trio that includes a spray, an oil and a mask.

First up is the Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. It took about a week of use to see any noticeable difference in my hair. That being said, this is probably the most difference (positive) I’ve seen in my hair since discovering another favourite – the Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer. The best way I can think to describe it is that it’s like having the effects of a good haircut without cutting your hair. The brand’s hair mask, the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask, is great if you’re one for a weekly deep conditioning as it’s not too heavy and it rinses out really well which can be an issue with some hair masks..

Last, but not least, is the Caudalie Divine Oil.  This stuff – use it sparingly if you’ve got finer strands – is great for smoothing any flyaways and adding extra hydration to the ends of hair.  This multi-purpose oil can also be used on your face and body as well.

What hair care products have you been loving for Spring so far?

February Favourites 2016

February Favourites 2016

* Clockwise from top left: Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist; Elizabeth and James Nirvana White; Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter; Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye LinerNUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm

Oh hi there! Kicking off the first post of this year with a monthly favourites (although this is kind of a dual January/February collection of sorts.)  Firstly, and most used, is the NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. This is pretty much an all-year-round favourite and hands down the best balm out there (in my opinion.) If the old myth that honey has healing properties is true, this lip balm pretty much proves it.

Up next is the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. This has been on my wishlist for quite some time, so it was no surprise that when I recently got my hands on it in a value set it became an instant favourite. It dries fast, smells of actual roses and if you prefer a mist or spray over an oil, as I do, this is a definite try.

You had me at peony.  While I don’t tend to wear perfume much, and after having run out of my staple scent – Flora by Gucci Eau Fraîche – I wasn’t really looking to pickup a new fragrance any time soon. But the past month brought this beauty into my life: Elizabeth and James Nirvana White.  Notes of peony AND lily of the valley? Count me in.

Okay, so scent might also have a major part to play in this pick. Next up, the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter. Two words: Vanilla Apricot. Besides that, this stuff is non-greasy, hydrates like a boss and is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

Rediscovering the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner has been a game-changer this last month or two. It’s both the easiest to apply, and the most reliable liquid liner out there.

What are some of your favourites at the moment?
